This vegetable is so tasty that water can come in the mouth just by mentioning its name. Its taste is very much liked by children as well as elders. This vegetable is also considered beneficial for health, because black gram is considered a very good source of protein. That’s why it must be included in your diet in some form or the other. You can make black gram potato vegetable with very few ingredients and easily. Let’s know the method of making black gram and potato curry-
Ingredients for making black gram-potato curry
Chana – 250 grams
Potato – 4 big size
Onion – 4 big size
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Garlic – 8-10 cloves
Chopped coriander – 2-3 teaspoons
Green chili – 2-3
Tomato – 4-5
Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 2 tsp
Kashmiri red chili powder – 2 tsp
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Cumin – 1 tsp
Mace – 1
Cloves – 2-3
Chickpeas masala – 1 teaspoon
Mustard oil – as required
salt – as per taste
how to make vegetable
To make this tasty vegetable, first of all, soak black gram for about 6-7 hours. By doing this the gram will swell. After the gram swells, we will prepare to boil both the potato and gram by keeping them in a cooker with water. However, before boiling these two, we will also add mace and cloves. After this, close the lid and cook on medium flame till 3 to 4 whistles. After this, after turning off the gas, take out both the things in separate utensils.

After this, peel the potatoes and cut them into small pieces in a vessel. Now peel two onions and cut them into small slices. Grind this onion, tomato, ginger and garlic in one go and make a paste. Now we will take a big vessel, in which we will add gram, chopped potato, chopped onion, garlic, ginger paste. Along with this, all the spices will also be added. Now mix this mixture well and cover it with a plate and leave it for some time.

Now put a cooker on the gas. When the cooker is hot, add oil to it. When the oil is hot, put cumin seeds in it and cook it. After this, add ground onion to it. When it gets fried, then we will also add magnetized gram and potato. Then add about half a glass of water and mix everything well. Now cover the cooker with a lid and let it cook like this for 10 minutes. However, keep checking by removing the lid in between. When the onion melts completely, then we will also add kasuri methi. Now add water to it and give it one to two whistles. Keep in mind that you have to add as much water as you want to keep the gravy. Now close the lid of the pressure cooker and give one to two whistles. After that turn off the gas. After the cooker cools down, garnish it with green coriander. Now this tasty vegetable can be served with puri, paratha or plain roti.
